Introducing Page One Media

A New Name, the Same Bespoke Literary Campaigns

I’ve spent the better part of the last twenty years branding and marketing on behalf of authors and literary organizations but today is a first for me. After a little over two years back in the reestablished SRPR, we are launching our own rebrand. Sarah Russo Public Relations is now named Page One Media.

Over the last twenty plus years, I’ve been fortunate to work with some of the smartest, most talented, and hardworking writers in the business. But no campaign is conducted in a vacuum, and I can say with confidence that every one of those campaigns was a collaboration with talented editors, marketers, sales reps, publishers, and designers. Undoubtably, we can do our job without author involvement (although who would want to?), but I can guarantee that our work is better, smarter, and more creative when we have the insight and expertise of authors and in-house teams working in tandem with us. It’s a collaborative environment that we thrive in and enjoy immensely.

At Page One Media we endeavor to produce thoughtful and creative campaigns that connect with audiences in the U.S., Canada, and around the world. We handle books across a wide variety of subject areas and social issues with sensitivity and attention to detail.

Although our name is brand new, our expertise remains the same

At Page One Media, I lead strategy for all campaigns. That means I can only take on a limited number of projects each year as lead publicist. My most recent stint at Oxford University Press, as Global Head of Audience Engagement (which, on the ground means leading the publicity, communications, social media, and trade marketing teams) showed me that I do my best work when engaging and leading a talented team of professionals.

During my four years back in-house at OUP, I always maintained a small list of books for which I was the lead publicist and marketer. It’s a careful balance but one I feel is very important for my own professional creativity and to maintaining my skills and relationships. I will continue to lead a few campaigns each year for our clients and handle strategy for every one of our campaigns.

Meet the Page One Media Team!

Poppy Hatrick, our senior publicist here at Page One Media, worked on my team at OUP, and I am so fortunate to have her join me here at P1M. Poppy interned with me during the first iteration of SRPR and after her time at OUP she went on to work at the marketing and media agency Inkhouse.

Laci Durham is our publicity and marketing assistant. Laci joins us after completing the Denver Publishing Institute and an internship at the Children’s Book Council. Prior to her entry to publishing Laci was a Library Assistant in a middle school library in Colorado.

Our small group will continue to grow as we expand our services in the marketing space in addition to publicity and audience engagement. We look forward to talking with you if you are seeking out help delivering your work to the broader world of readers, media, academics, and specialists who might learn from or enjoy your book.

Poppy, Laci, and I invite you to browse the new site to find out more about us, our services, who we’re working with, endorsements from those we’ve worked with, and our business ethics. It’s still a work in progress and we will be posting on the blog more regularly with tips, tools, and advice for established and emerging authors, and independent and university presses. Yours truly,
Sarah
