Hosted by our founder, Sarah Russo, a publishing professional with 25 years of experience across trade and academic trade publishing at Knopf, Doubleday, Scribner, Other Press, Farrar, Strauss & Giroux, andOxford University Press, each month we will cover one publishing topic and also host a monthly Q&A session where you can come with your more granular questions about your book or a part of the process you may be in right now. All of those live, virtual meetings will be recorded and hosted on our platform so you can access as needed or review when you have time. Only subscribers to Page One Education will have the opportunity for additional access to Sarah through a small group monthly mastermind and 1-to-1 meetings.
If you’ve been struggling to organize your publication plan, we’re here to support you and teach you how to identify and utilize all the resources at your disposal—your publisher included—to make the most of the publication of your book. And if you are between books, this is also for you. If you felt that you could have done better with the publication of your last book, your opportunities aren’t gone and there is no time like the present to learn how to do it better.

“In an age when thousands of new books flood forth each year and book publishers struggle to bring them to the attention of readers, we hired Page One Media to help us publicize our new book. We couldn’t have been more satisfied with the result. The Page One team worked tirelessly and produced results—spreading the news to media of all sorts. They were as friendly and supportive as they were professional and efficient. We recommend them highly and without reservation.”
William Taubman and Philip Taubman
co-authors of McNamara at War (W.W. Norton) -
“The entire team at Page One Media have been involved in many of the biggest publicity campaigns at Europa over the past few years and they are the reason those campaigns have been so successful. Everyone that we’ve worked with at P1M has been responsive, inventive, persistent, detail-focused, and has shown the utmost professionalism, flexibility, and generosity. They’ve also been good colleagues, willing to commiserate and to celebrate with us in equal measure.”

Executive Publisher, Europa Editions -
“The Page One team is a wellspring of guidance, inspiration, and industry wisdom. They care deeply about the books they choose to support and the strength of their enthusiasm shows. For our most recent title they enlisted and coordinated influencers for coverage across major platforms; supplemented grassroots marketing with a traditional media push; assisted our staff in organizing and publicizing a national tour; and, throughout, provided live check-ins and meticulous project updates. This holistic and generous approach made an otherwise daunting project not only successful but a true collaboration and a joy to work on—and equipped Restless with a host of future leads and strategies to boot. Bravo!”
Ilan Stavans
publisher of Restless Books and author and editor of The People’s Tongue and A Nation Wrestles with God -
“The Page One team did an incredible job getting my book in front of the right audiences. During our time working together, I was constantly booked with media interviews — and Isabella helped out every step of the way, assisting me in preparing for each interview. The Page One team was not only strategic and effective, but also genuinely kind and thoughtful. They consistently prioritized matching me with safe and supportive media opportunities, which was especially important given the difficult political climate and the contentious nature of my book’s topic.”
Oliver Haimson
author of Trans Technologies (MIT Press) -
“I can’t imagine finding better partners for my book’s launch than the team at Page One. I was constantly impressed by the way that they not only worked for me and my book, but also with each other. It is rare to find a company that is also a thriving community, and to have work partners that become friends and collaborators in your career. As a musician as well as a writer, I think of everyone I bring into my creative and professional life in terms of this one question: Would you want to have them in the band? Page One is the best group of people to add to your band.”
Eiren Caffall
author of The Mourner’s Bestiary (Row House Publishing) -
“I could not have been happier working with Poppy Hatrick, Sarah Russo, and the rest of the Page One team on my nonfiction book. From their initial publicity vision to practical implementation, Page One was instrumental in getting my book into the hands of readers and media members—whether podcast hosts, reviewers, or editors for standalone excerpts, Op-Eds, and adaptations. Beyond these professional successes, my two favorite parts of working with Poppy and Page One were more personal. One was their constant communication, which left me feeling energized and supported. And the other was their respect and understanding for the work I had just produced, which left me feeling valued. What can be better for an author than feeling supported and valued? Not much, which is why I would recommend Page One to anyone.”

author of A Biography of a Mountain (St. Martin’s Press)

“Sarah Russo is a deeply knowledgeable, thoughtful book marketer who brings tremendous energy, creativity, and generosity of spirit to her work. As a nonprofit journalism organization independently publishing our first book, The Craft of Science Writing, we needed strong guidance in how to make sure that our book makes the greatest impact possible. From my first conversation with Sarah, I knew that she was an ideal fit for the task. And sure enough, she has been a godsend, offering both big-picture strategy advice and nuts-and-bolts tips on everything from how to address a galley letter to how to unspool a social media campaign. She is smart, quick, and friendly, and I feel extremely fortunate to have met her. To any independent publisher looking for help with publicity and marketing, I would say: If you can get Sarah, get Sarah!”
Siri Carpenter
Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief, The Open Notebook -
“Sarah brings both an abundance of experience and a welcome personal touch to her work with publishers and authors. As a journalist, I look to her for insight on how the publishing process really works; as a writer, I've turned to her for guidance in how to launch a book and help it find its audience. Her online workshop on author newsletters was the best overview I've found so far of what to do (and what not to do). Sarah makes the often challenging, unpredictable process of getting a book out in the world much easier to navigate—and she’s a true pleasure to work with.”
